Alderman Tabares says that we are going to keep seeing suicides until there is a big change in the political culture of Chicago. We need to have a common-sense approach to police accountability. We need to make the job more attractive to hire more officers. And we need to stop empowering the radical activists who think the very idea of policing is racist.

Team Hubbard spoke at the Chicago Board of Education meeting to urge CPS’s approval of purchasing land at 63rd and Lawndale to build a one-of-a-kind vocational center for Hubbard H.S. students. With the current issues we are facing with violent crime in Chicago, I continue to support amending the welcoming city ordinance and propose that those who break the law, must be the priority for immigration officials.

This vote on the bond should have been a commonsense NO. We need to make decisions in our city about what kind of city we want 5, 10, 20 years from now. This bond is a ticking time bomb for taxpayers and I will not support something that will make our city unlivable for my son and other families down the road.

We are a week away from a new administration in the White House, which has promised to make Chicago the epicenter of mass deportations. In private discussions with members of my community and my colleagues, there is much agreement that changes need to be made to ensure that violent criminals are prioritized over our hardworking families. As we begin these negotiations, it is time for leadership.
My hope was that this ordinance would begin these critical discussions.

I’m proud to join Ald. Quinn to ban stores that sell dangerous drugs targeting kids. These stores open near schools and libraries and package their products as candies and cookies. Despite the mayor’s success at killing regulation on the state level, in Chicago’s Midway region, we’re taking action and protecting children by banning these shops.
